Ioan Gruffudd’s wife Alice claims she ‘didn't know actor filed for divorce'

Ioan Gruffudd’s estranged wife Alice Evans has claimed she didn’t know he was ‘filing for divorce’.

The Liar actor, 47, is thought to have filed documents at the Los Angeles Superior Court to formally end their 13-year marriage, according to The Blast who obtained the papers.

However, his former partner appeared to suggest that she found out through the media, sharing a screenshot of a news article on their separation.

Alongside the Instagram post, the 49-year-old penned: ‘Oh. Ok. Thanks for letting me know. I guess? ?.’

The post is still visible on Alice’s page, with friends and fans rallying around her in the comments.

The former couple started dating in 2000 – after they met on the set of 102 Dalmatians.

They tied the knot seven years later, and have welcomed two daughters, Ella Betsi and Elsie Marigold, together.

News of their ‘divorce’ was announced yesterday – but it is not currently known if there is a prenuptial agreement in place.

Alice made headlines earlier this year when she claimed that Ioan had ended their marriage after telling her he ‘no longer loves her’.

Sharing her heartbreak on social media, she opened up about their relationship with followers in a now-deleted post.

‘Sad news. My beloved husband/soulmate of 20 years, Ioan Gruffudd, has announced he is to leave his family, starting next week,’ she wrote.

‘Me and our young daughters girls are very confused and sad. We haven’t been given a reason except that he “no longer loves me”. I’m so sorry [sic].’

Last month, Alice informed fans that they were discussing legal separation in a lengthy Instagram post, insisting they were ‘still friends’.

‘It must be weird to comprehend why somebody would share their pain on social media rather than with their nearest and dearest,’ she wrote.

‘I get that. You must think I’m an a**hole. I’m not though. I don’t have a mum, or a dad. I don’t have any close friends in LA. I’ve looked after my kids for half their lives alone. My husband knows that.

‘We are indeed discussing legal separation, but we are still friends. You can say what you want about me being an attention seeker but you know it’s not true.

‘You just want a reason to put me down. Please – go ahead. I’m impenetrable.’
