Alison Hammond says son is ‘funnier’ than her as she gives rare insight into family life

Alison Hammond has admitted that her 17 year old son Aidan is “funnier” than her as she opened up about family life in a chat with OK! .

The This Morning star, 47, who has confirmed she’s dating a “special someone”, is an interviewer extraordinaire. Whether she’s “marrying” Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson on live television, or making Harrison Ford laugh like we’ve never seen before, she always manages to make viewers laugh.

And the TV star says her teenage son gets his sense of humour from her – and that he could even be set to follow in her footsteps.

While Alison says Aidan “absolutely” could be a presenter, she continued: “I don’t think he sees himself following in my footsteps at all. He’s really into cars and racing.

“He goes go-karting most weekends. His passion is cars, he’s doing mechanics at college. So, he might be a presenter in Formula One, who knows?”

She added: “I personally think he’d be brilliant. He’s funny. He’s funnier than me.”

However, Alison admits that Aidan doesn’t watch her on TV.

“I’ll be honest with you, he doesn’t watch me on TV,” she said. “He watches TikTok and YouTube, and he’s a gamer. I have to go up to him and say, ‘Babes, watch the TV!’ and then he’ll put the television on and watch it.

“Occasionally I’ll go home and he’ll say, ‘I watched you today Mum, you were really good.’ I say, ‘How much did you watch then? Two minutes?!’

"These teenagers have got a very short attention span now, they need to be stimulated very quickly. This Morning goes on for two and a half hours, and that’s way too long for him.”

It comes after she candidly discussed their mother and son relationship.

Last month, Alison spoke to Virgin Radio host Vick Hope on the red carpet prior to the BAFTA TV Awards.

She said: “I’ve got my son here today, you know, with this, with working in television and stuff comes sacrifices, you know, I haven’t always been been there for my son, so this is a wonderful recognition, and I’m so honoured that the BAFTA’s nominated me really”.

Alison was nominated in the entertainment performance category at the lavish ceremony.
