‘Birds of Prey’ Actress Jurnee Smollett Divorcing Husband of Nearly a Decade, Josiah Bell

The ‘Friday Night Lights’ alum, who is the sister of Jussie Smollett, reportedly filed the paperwork sometime last week to legally end her marriage to the musician.

AceShowbizJurnee Smollett and Josiah Bell are taking separate ways after nearly ten years of marriage. The actress, who is known for her roles on 1990s sitcom “On Our Own” and 1997’s film “Eve’s Bayou” among others, is reportedly divorcing her musician husband.

The 33-year-old star, who is the sister of disgraced “Empire” actor Jussie Smollett, had her attorney filing the paperwork sometime last week, according to Us Weekly. There’s no word on what led to the couple’s decision to call an end to their marriage.

Jurnee married Josiah in October 2010. The actress, who stars as Black Canady in DC’s movie “Birds of Prey: And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn“, shares 3-year-old son Hunter with her 37-year-old soon-to-be ex-husband.

Back in March 2013, Jurnee gushed about her husband. “We were best friends before we started even dating, so we had this really great foundation. I think one of the challenging things about any lasting relationship is that you have to be so vulnerable,” she told The Hollywood Reporter. She continued, “I think as human beings we try to hide our flaws and try to present this perfect person, this person we wish we were to our spouse when that causes so many troubles.”

The two have not made a public appearance together since 2018 and last made reference about each other on social in October 2019. At the time, Josiah gave a birthday shout-out to Jurnee. “In honor of my QUEEN’S special day, I’m going to let a clip from my upcoming EP #psistillloveyou speak for me,” he captioned a picture of the pair set to the song via Instagram. He added, “@jurneebell ‘You’re my goddess / From a touch of heaven’s chosen…..’ I love you my baby. Happy Birthday!”

Jurnee reposted the sweet message on her own account, adding three red heart emojis.
