Cassandra Peterson Claims She Lost 11,000 ‘Horny Old’ Followers After Coming Out as Gay

Despite losing 11,000 followers on one of her social media accounts, the ‘Elvira, Mistress of the Dark’ actress reveals that she gained ‘60,000 new followers’ on the same day.

AceShowbiz -Thousands of Cassandra Peterson‘s fans couldn’t take her coming out well. Several months after she revealed that she’s gay, the “Elvira, Mistress of the Dark” actress claimed that she lost 11,000 “horny old” followers.

The 70-year-old made the revelation in the Thursday, January 6 episode of “Behind the Velvet Rope” podcast. “I knew that there were going to be some horny old men out there who were just not going to like the fact that they didn’t have a chance with me anymore,” she said, before quipping, “I hate to tell them they already didn’t have a chance of me anyway.”

“In one day, the day after the book came out, I lost 11,000,” the mother of one recalled. “People just said, ‘Elvira, you lied to me. I don’t respect you anymore. Goodbye.’ But I got 60,000 new followers the same day.”

Cassandra, who is best known for her portrayal of the horror hostess character Elvira, said that those who unfollowed her were “mostly straight, older guys who just felt lied to.” She continued, “I don’t know – can’t please everybody!”

Cassandra confirmed her sexuality back in September. In her memoir “Yours Cruelly, Elvira: Memoirs of the Mistress of the Dark”, she got candid about her secret 19-year romance with another woman named Teresa Wierson.

In the book, Cassandra divulged that she met Teresa at the gym. They later became friends, lived together and gradually fell in love. “I’d never been interested in women as anything other than friends. I felt so confused. This just wasn’t me!” the former recalled.

“I was stunned that I’d been friends with her for so many years and never noticed our chemistry,” Cassandra continued recounting. “I soon discovered that we connected sexually in a way I’d never experienced.”

Cassandra then hired the personal trainer as her assistant so they could be together while keeping their romance private. However, Cassandra decided to come forward with her sexual orientation despite knowing that some of her fans would be upset.

“Would my fans hate me for not being what they expected me to be?” she wrote. “I’m very aware that there will be some who will be disappointed and maybe even angry, but I have to live with myself, and at this point in my life, I’ve got to be truthful about who I am… For the first time in my life, I’m with someone who makes me feel safe, blessed, and truly loved.”
