Coleen Nolan frustrated as Loose Women co-stars question her lifestyle

Coleen Nolan and Denise Welch clash about social media

Ahead of her appearance on The Great Celebrity Bake Off for SU2C, Coleen Nolan, 58, the star opened up on her controversial decision to go vegan.

The Loose Women panellist feels it is the right move for her, but she admitted to Plant Based News in January that her ITV colleagues have left her feeling frustrated over their attitudes.

Coleen caused a stir last year when she defended Animal Rebellion, who had been protesting by pouring milk over supermarket floors, on the ITV daytime show.

Sharing her opinions on the matter, the presenter told viewers to research the “horrific” animal agriculture industry.

Ever since the uproar over her comments, Coleen told the publication that she often experiences backlash over her vegan lifestyle.

The Nolans singer admitted: “If I mention it, they go ‘oh god you’re not one of them are you?’

“And it’s like, one of what? I don’t want to be that person that tells people off because they’re eating meat in front of me, I think it’s a real personal choice.

“But don’t come at me until you’ve learned all the facts.”

She went on to share that she often gets irritated when talking about her plant-based diet with friends and her Loose Women colleagues.

Coleen claimed: “They say: ‘Yeah, but I don’t understand why you wouldn’t eat eggs, you know hens just lay eggs.’

“And I’m thinking, ‘oh god, I haven’t got time to explain all this in four minutes.’

“But if you go into it then they go ‘oh she’s going to lecture us now.’

“It’s just really, really hard. But it doesn’t stop me from doing it.”

The star continued: “I go to them: But you’ll sit there and have a Sunday roast. How would you feel if they roasted your dog?

“It’s the same thing, it’s an animal, and whether you believe it or not they’ve got feelings, I don’t care what you say.”

Coleen initially made the choice to become a vegan during the first coronavirus lockdown in 2020.

She changed her lifestyle after suffering from health problems, forcing her to rely heavily on painkillers.

Coleen was alerted to the health benefits of a vegan diet after watching the 2017 documentary What The Health, which goes into detail on the subject.

After two weeks of her diet change, Coleen found she didn’t need the painkillers anymore.
