Dove Cameron Shares How She Told Her Parents About Her First Tattoo at 14

Dove Cameron is opening up about getting her first tattoo, which was at the young age of 14.

The 27-year-old actress and singer dished on hiding it from her parents and just how she told them about it, while appearing on The Drew Barrymore Show, airing Wednesday (May 3).

See what she said inside…

“My very first tattoo. So I had this best friend when I was younger. They were very fun and I was very introverted and she had wanted this tattoo for a long, long time, meaning we were both fourteen, and she had been hyper fixating on it for a couple of months and I knew about this, but she was so scared of the pain that me, little introverted home school, no friends, chicken owning, Pacific Northwest girl, I volunteered as tribute to go first. I was like, ‘Okay I’ll get a tattoo first and I’ll tell you if it’s really painful,’” Dove told Drew.

“And we did it. It was my first tattoo ever, it was like a gateway, don’t start,” she added.

Dove explained that she got her tattoo in a spot where she would be able to hide it, then revealed how her parents found out, aka she told them.

“Then, the very next day, I was like, ‘Mom, can I get a tattoo?’ And she was like, ‘No.’ And I was like, ‘Okay, what would you say if I already got a tattoo?’ And she was like, ‘Ugh. Let me see it.’ And she was like, “Okay, it’s really cute, don’t tell your dad,’” she shared. “And then I told my dad and he was like, ‘It’s really cute, don’t tell your mom.’”

Dove recently confirmed that she auditioned for a huge role, and while she didn’t get it, she’s excited to watch her friend, who did land the role…
