Giovanni Pernice: Strictly Come Dancing 2019 pro already has sights set on celeb partner

Giovanni Pernice, 28, is heading into his fifth series of Strictly Come Dancing and, although the pairings have yet to be revealed, it looks as though he has decided who he wants. The Italian heartthrob appeared to give away who he has his eye on in a sequence of posts which he liked in view of his 103,000 Twitter followers. The dancer almost exclusively liked tweets referring only to Michelle Visage, 50, being confirmed for the Strictly 2019 line-up, as well as several in which fans expressed their hopes the pair would be put together for the competition. Following Michelle’s announcement, he liked a post from a viewer who begged: “Please please please partner her with @pernicegiovann1.”

“Am so ecstatically happy! I hope you get @pernicegiovann1!” another Giovanni-approved message from a second Twitter user read.

He went on to show his support for several more tweets, one of which read: “@michellevisage is going to bring a whole new dynamic to @bbcstrictly this season making it yet another epic year!”

Another, shared by former Strictly star Anastasia, 50, said: “Yes my sister @michellevisage will rock the @bbcstrictly stage.”

Giovanni also liked some of Michelle’s excited posts about joining the show, with one saying: “I cannot WAIT to meet my @bbcstrictly family.”

The professional dancer has an excellent track record on Strictly, having reach the final in three series out of the four years he has competed in so far.

Last year, he and his now girlfriend Ashely Roberts, 37, lost out on the Glitterball trophy to Stacey Dooley, 32, and Kevin Clifton, 36.

Elsewhere, Michelle seems eager to get started on her Strictly journey.

At the weekend, Strictly 2019 star Michelle Visage reacted to barbed speculation about her part in the show after some fans questioned whether she was going to be the joke act of the series.

One fan tweeted: “I think a lot of people might think @michellevisage is going to be the ‘comedy’ dancer of the series, that relies on comedy rather than skill to get through.

“Don’t underestimate her,” they insisted. “I think girl could well have rhythm and be the dark horse of the show!”

The RuPaul’s Drag Race judge soon responded, insisting she intended on taking the challenge seriously.

“Oh this is NOT a joke to me!” she said, in view of her 512,000 Twitter followers.

“I’m prepared to WERK.”(sic)

The Strictly pairings have yet to be revealed but fans will find out which celebrity is partnered with which professional in the launch show later this summer.
