The movie awards season hits full speed Monday with the nominations for the 77th Golden Globe Awards, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association’s annual kudos-fest that honors the best films of the year in 14 categories and television in 11 categories.
Check out the nominations below as they are revealed this morning beginning at 5 AM PT, with Tim Allen, Dakota Fanning and Susan Kelechi Watson aiding HFPA president Lorenzo Soria with the task. The first batch will be announced around 5:04 AM PT before a short break, with the remainder of the categories coming beginning at 5:15 AM in a simulcast on NBC’s Today.
The film noms in the past have been fairly accurate barometers of what to expect come Oscar time thanks to the Globes’ splitting of the categories into drama and musical/comedy, ensuring a strong final slate of candidates. On the TV side, the HFPA is more apt to recognize newcomers amid the perennial favorites.
