Jerry Springer’s last photo taken just weeks before his death

Jerry Springer addresses rumours that talk show guests were ‘fake’

Jerry Springer was last pictured at a St Patrick’s Day parade in Tampa, Florida, just weeks before his death aged 79.

The iconic talk show looked in good spirits as he greeted fans and immersed himself in the Irish-themed festivities.

In one of his final social media posts, Jerry shared the photographs with the caption: “Thank you to @mortampa for a great time at the Rough Riders St. Patrick’s Parade in Ybor City! I’ll be back.”

Following the sad news of his death, hundreds of Jerry’s fans have flooded the comments with tributes to the star.

Adian wrote: “Rip to a huge part of my childhood,” while Nico echoed: “Rest peacefully Jerry.”

Jerry’s death was confirmed on Thursday. He died peacefully at his home in Chicago after a brief illness, a statement from his family said.

He had been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer a few months ago.

His lifelong friend Jene Galvin said: “Jerry’s ability to connect with people was at the heart of his success in everything he tried, whether that was politics, broadcasting or just joking with people on the street who wanted a photo or a word.

“He’s irreplaceable and his loss hurts immensely, but memories of his intellect, heart and humour will live on.”

His series, The Jerry Springer Show, ran from 1991 until 2018 in the US.

He also hosted his The Jerry Springer Podcast for eight years before stepping down in December.

Prior to his broadcasting career he was the mayor of Cincinnati, in the US state of Ohio, and a political campaign adviser to US presidential hopeful Robert F Kennedy.
