Katie Piper shares powerful message as she hits back at troll

Katie Piper has issued a powerful response after a troll accused her of having a ‘designer face’ following an appearance on Sky News.

In 2008, the Loose Women star was attacked with acid by her then-boyfriend, which caused major damage to her face and caused her to go blind in one eye.

She had pioneering surgery to restore her face and vision and, in 2009, gave up her right to anonymity to spread awareness about burn victims.

When the star received a message from a troll recently, who hit out at her appearance, she shared a public response.

She responded to the troll saying: ‘My face has been rebuilt by surgeons using other parts of my body after my face was melted down to the muscle and Skelton following an acid attack.

‘But regardless I don’t owe you pretty, perhaps use your time more productively than commenting on womens appearance in the internet [sic].’

Katie went on to say that she is ‘out the other side now’ but wanted to share the message for people who may not have the same support system.

She added: ‘Whilst many feel this pain, I see this negative attention thrusted mostly upon women. I obviously haven’t had work done to my face for vanity reasons but, even if I had, that is NOT a problem.

‘Why do women always get torn down about their appearance?’

The 37-year-old finished her statement by saying she hopes people who say such things will ‘look inside themselves and figure out why they need to tear others down so fiercely in order to validate themselves.’

The mum-of-two also recently joined the Loose Women panel, thanking fans for ‘all the love’ after many were thrilled to see her on our screens more often.

Katie wrote: ‘It’s official! I’m a @LooseWomen panellist!

‘Thank you to everyone for your overwhelming support and kind messages about my recent appearances! I can’t wait to become a regular and discuss some wild and wonderful things that lovely “loose” ladies delve in to!

‘Its going to be great year, and I can’t wait to take you all along for the ride! (sic)’

The official Loose Women account also shared their own statement, adding: ‘We’re delighted to welcome @katiepiper_ to the #LooseWomen family as a panellist!’

Katie has since uploaded shots of her looking glammed up in a purple gown, ahead of her first appearance as a regular on the programme.

‘Watch out @loosewomen, your newest panellist is coming for you!’ she captioned the post.

On her Instagram Stories, Katie said she was ‘super happy’ to be involved with the show, as she admitted she is ‘loving being part of a team’.

‘I’m super happy being part of the panel, it’s so cool, for me, I normally work alone, so a lot of the jobs I do are by myself,’ she said.

‘So I’m actually loving being part of a team, and they are all as genuine and nice as they seem on telly, so yeah, really loving this new connection, being part of a team, and not being at home on Zoom!’
