Lauren Harries’ surgery ‘unsuccessful’ with split in spine after 2 months in hospital

Lauren Harries’ family have given an update on her health, saying that her latest surgery has been “unsuccessful” after spending more than two months in hospital.

The Celebrity Big Brother star, 45, has experienced a difficult few months after receiving emergency brain surgery back in April.

Following the operation, Lauren spent some time in intensive care and was placed into a coma after suffering seizures.

In a new update, Lauren’s mother shared that her daughter had to undergo a spinal operation – which sadly was not successful.

A tweet posted to Lauren’s official Twitter account read: “‘Lauren has had to have Spinal Surgery due to a split in her spine.

“This was very painful, It’s worrying as the spine is the most dangerous place to have an operation next to the brain.

“Unfortunately the surgery was unsuccessful so drs are looking into other options.”

The tweet continued: “She’s been in hospital now for over 2.5 months. Her spine is concerning for doctors and she will be staying for longer.

“We don’t know why or how this happened.

“She just wants to get home.”

Earlier this month, Lauren’s family gave her followers a further update on her health, after she was put into an induced coma following her mystery illness.

Her family shared a photo of Lauren alongside an update on June 11, which showed the star sitting in her hospital bed drawing a picture.

It was captioned: “Lauren was woken after her induced coma, she still has painful seizures which cause her whole body to shake uncontrollably.

“She is unable to walk and her feet are in pain. The only thing keeping her going at the moment is you, her fans and her painting.

“Doctors are still unable to diagnose what’s causing any of this, they are testing different medications to help. Thank you all for keeping her in your thoughts. She loves you all.”

Earlier that week, Lauren’s family had updated fans that she had been put into an induced coma and said: “Last night Lauren had a seizure and doctors have had to put her into an induced coma to get it under control.

“Lauren needs all your support and wishes, she loves you all.”

The update came just days after Lauren took to social media herself to share an update following her emergency brain surgery.

At the time, Lauren – who featured in Celebrity Big Brother in 2013 – said that was enduring her “worst nightmare” and explained how devastated she was to have had to shave her hair off.
