Love Island: Callum is DUMPED from the villa in first elimination

Love Island: Callum is DUMPED from the villa in first elimination as Lucie REUNITES with Joe in shock u-turn… ahead of new bombshell’s arrival

Callum Macleod has become the first contestant to be dumped from Love Island 2019.

The aircraft engineer, 28, was booted off the show following a dramatic re-coupling, which saw Lucie Donlan reunite with her former flame Joe Garratt, after struggling to choose between him and boxer Tommy Fury.

It came as it was also revealed that there would another new arrival in Sunday’s show in the form of Hull model Danny, 21.

Gone: Callum Macleod has become the first contestant to be dumped from Love Island 2019, after a dramatic re-coupling which set the stage for a new bombshell arrival

I pick him! It came as Lucie Donlan opted to reunite with Joe Garratt who seemed delighted to have another chance to land the blonde surfer after she had been stolen by Tommy Fury

Following his departure from the villa, Callum said he was disappointed he failed to find his future wife on the show, but went onto tip Curtis and Amy as the couple who would go the distance.

He said: ‘I don’t think I would do anything differently in person. I genuinely think I was true to myself. I didn’t fake anything. It’s just unfortunate that there was no one in there that I connected with.

‘There were definitely people in there that I was closer to and maybe if the opportunity had come to speak to those people more it might have been a little bit different.

‘But ultimately I’m 28, I’ve had a couple of serious relationships, I know what I’m looking for and it just didn’t come through the door on this occasion.’

Sad: Following his departure from the villa, Callum said he was disappointed he failed to find his future wife on the show

Reflecting on an explosive re-coupling, Callum added: ‘We all knew there would be a couple of surprising choices because we didn’t have a clue who would pick who. It could have gone either way.

‘I definitely saw it coming. Apart from Curtis, anyone of us could have gone.

‘We weren’t sure what the girls were thinking, I didn’t know what was being said, but like I keep saying, I didn’t want to force it and fake it because I didn’t think it was the correct manner to do so.’

Off I go! Callum also recently admitted he quit his job to take part in the show, so it remains to be seen what he’ll do next

In an interview with The Sun, Callum also admitted he quit his job to take part in the show, so it remains to be seen what he’ll do next.

‘It was a really hard decision but you only get one life,’ he said.

‘I applied for a sabbatical but it got rejected in the end, on my section they couldn’t justify the career break.

‘I left on good terms. My Managing Director knew I was going on Love Island and he loves the show. He did say to go for it.’

Weighing it up! Lucie surprised many viewers with her decision to couple up with Joe, after admitting to Curtis she was unsure whether their relationship would work on the outside

New pair: The surfer had spent much of the episode debating whether to choose Joe or Tommy Fury, and her choice may have surprised some viewers

It was a dramatic night in the villa as Lucie also stunned viewers by opting to reunite with Joe, who had previously caused fan fury with his ‘manipulative’ behaviour.

Trying to explain her decision, the surfer said: ‘It’s been really hard because I’ve spent a lot of time with two guys in here who are really different and have amazing points about them both in different ways.

‘So I found it really hard to decide this evening. I’m v attracted to him and I think I could see a future with him.’

Still together: Amy Hart was the first girl to couple up, and she inevitably chose Curtis Pritchard

Surprise! During the re-coupling, Anna made the surprise decision to stay with Sharif, despite many fan theories she would stay with Anton

Scary: After several minutes of worry that he could be going home, Amber saved Anton by coupling up with him

Lucie had spent the duration of the episode debating whether to choose Joe or Tommy, whose head had been clearly turned by newcomer Molly-Mae Hague.

But her decision left the floor clear for Molly-Mae to couple up with Tommy, leaving Callum alone and ready to depart from the villa.

While Amy inevitably opted to stay with Curtis, Anna made the surprise decision to also couple up with Sharif, prompting a hilarious reaction from Anton, who seemed sure he would be chosen by the pharmacist.

New face: As viewers said goodbye to their first Islander of the series, the stage was set for a hunky new arrival in the form of Danny, 21, a model from Hull

Good looking: The hunk described himself as a ‘happy go lucky kind of guy,’ who was determined to find a girl who was ‘ambitious and independent’

After several minutes of worry that he could be going home, Amber saved Anton by coupling up with him.

As viewers said goodbye to their first Islander of the series, the stage was set for a hunky new arrival in the form of Danny, who will make his first appearance in Sunday’s show.

The model described himself as a ‘happy go lucky kind of guy,’ who was determined to find a girl who was ‘ambitious and independent.’

New face: Newcomer Molly-Mae was the last to couple up, and opted to go with Tommy Fury, after the pair hit it off in a cosy hot tub date

The pair met in a steamy hot tub setting in the private Hideaway and there was an instant spark between the two Islanders.

As Molly tells Tommy: ‘Your eyes are amazing.’

He replies: ‘Likewise. You are amazing! You’re 100 per cent my type, lovely eyes, cracking body.’

Not holding back and forgetting about Lucie, Tommy confesses: ‘You’re literally my ideal woman. You’re a gym girl. You’re beautiful.’

Molly-Mae added: ‘He’s a very very good-looking boy and he has this charming persona, and I can just tell he’s got this amazing personality.’

Back at the villa, Lucie confided in Anna and the girls, confessing she’s ‘a little bit’ jealous after Tommy headed off for the date.

And while the pair’s date seemed to be going well – as they chat breakfast and early starts – things take a dramatic turn when Molly-Mae receives another text, saying she should choose another boy for a date in the Hideaway.

It doesn’t take Molly-Mae long to make her decision, and luckily Tommy is fully in support of her decision, saying her choice was his ‘brother’ and ‘a lovely guy.’

She sends Tommy back to the villa to inform the boy she has chosen that he should now head to the Hideaway.

Upset: Back at the villa, Lucie confides in Anna and the girls, confessing she’s ‘a little bit’ jealous after Tommy headed off for the date

Tommy returned to the villa and headed to the fire pit for a debrief with the boys, saying: ‘She’s taking another date and guess who she wants? Curtis…you’re up. Go get yourself ready bro.’

Curtis is quick to show his loyalty to Amy, by giving her a sweet kiss before heading on the date.

After stripping off and climbing into the water, Curtis gently admitted he’s trying to stay committed to Amy, and spends the rest of the date giving Molly-Mae the lowdown on her fellow Islanders.

Raging: Back at the villa, Amy couldn’t hide her fury towards Molly-Mae even before their first meeting, though she insisted she knew Curtis would remain loyal to her

Back at the villa, Amy couldn’t hide her fury towards Molly-Mae even before their first meeting, though she insisted she knew Curtis would remain loyal to her.

Offering a frosty greeting to the influencer, she later admitted in the Beach Hut that she didn’t think Molly-Mae ‘was going about making friends the right way,’ despite Curtis’ repeated insistence he had eyes for nobody but her.

Meanwhile it seemed Lucie couldn’t shake her doubts around whether Tommy’s interests had changed, and ended up spending another night on the sofa.

Sneaky: Fans couldn’t hide their fury when Tommy attempted to reassure Lucie by insisting she didn’t have anything to worry about, mere minutes after he’d hit it off with Molly-Mae

Fans couldn’t hide their fury when Tommy attempted to reassure Lucie by insisting she didn’t have anything to worry about, mere minutes after he’d hit it off with Molly-Mae.

Lucie said: ‘Obviously, I do like you but I do need to accept that you’re going to get to know the new girl. If you fancy her, it’s fine.’

As Tommy said: ‘Has it made you feel any different?’ Lucie replied: ‘Yes. It’s made me feel a little bit jealous.’

I want her! And it seems Tommy isn’t alone in battling to win Molly’s affections, as Anton also threw his hat into the ring

Having fun: After their hot tub date, Tommy and Molly-Mae grew closer the following morning as he gave her a boxing lesson

And it seems Tommy isn’t alone in battling to win Molly’s affections, as Anton also threw his hat into the ring by saying in the Beach Hut: ‘Operation Double A has been cancelled. Now we’re going for Operation MMA and it’s well and truly underway.’

The next morning, the Islanders are stunned to learn that there will be a re-coupling, and the last single man will by dumped from the Island.

As Joe admits he’ll ‘cry’ if he’s left single, Lucie confides in Curtis by saying: ‘I’m very torn between both of them, Tommy is so kind and caring, but Joe has got so many good pints as well. He’s hellish we like to muck around.

‘I can’t see me and Joe working on the outside. Maybe that’s why it’s not worked.’

Sweet: In a surprise bit of screen-time for Yewande and Michael, the Irish beauty admitted she was enjoying their budding friendship

Smooching: During the first challenge of the series, Lucie enjoyed snogs with both Joe and Tommy

In a surprise bit of screen-time for Yewande and Michael, the Irish beauty admitted she was enjoying their budding friendship, and she would happily re-couple with him to avoid a tragic dumping.

It was then time for the much-anticipated first challenge of the series, which saw the boys compete to be crowned the villa’s sexiest cowboy, and each had to strip off before ‘rescuing’ a girl who had been tied to railway tracks in typical Western fashion.

Up first, Michael sizzled with his sexy routine, and also delighted Yewande with their first kiss in the villa.

The Irish beauty said that while she enjoyed her smooch, it felt like ‘kissing her brother.’

Oh dear! Meanwhile Amber was left unimpressed as she was ‘rescued’ by Callum during the Western-themed task

While Lucie was also kissed by Tommy, Joe got to choose which girl he would ‘rescue’ and of course he decided to save Lucie.

Both kisses were undoubtedly steamy, which left the blonde struggling to choose her dream man.

Following the re-coupling it remains to be seen whether Lucie will stick with Joe, or if her head will be turned by Danny.

Love Island continues on Sunday 9th June at 9pm on ITV2.

Together: After Molly-Mae chose to couple up with Tommy, it remains to be seen whether their romance will go the distance
