Love Island’s Mike Thalassitis tragically took his own life after a cocaine and drink binge, an inquest has heard.
The former footballer and reality TV star was found dead in woodland near his North London home in March.
He was just 26 years old.
The inquest at North London Coroner’s Court today found that the star was found hanged in a park in Enfield by a jogger.
Traces of cocaine and alcohol were found in his system, the inquest heard, as well as Fluoxetine, an anti-depressant.
The former Celebs Go Dating star left a notebook behind containing diary entries and letters, with notes at the back of the book addressed to his family sharing his intentions to end his life.
His cause of death was determined to be cerebral hypoxia as well as hanging.
Mike’s beloved family, who were present at the inquest, agreed to list his occupation as “celebrity” at the hearing.
It's believed the TV star had been grieving the loss of his grandmother, who passed away just days prior.
PC Emma Clawson told the court: “I looked through the notebook it was a combination of a diary and letters and positive thoughts. At the back of the diary there were a number of notes addressed to his family.”
Mike’s tragic death called for new aftercare rules for reality TV stars, after his death followed another former Love Island star, Sophie Gradon.
