Metallica’s ‘Black Album’ Jumps To No. 1 On Billboard’s Top Rock Albums, Hard Rock Albums Charts

Metallica‘s iconic Black Album has jumped to No. 1 on Billboard‘s Top Rock Albums and Hard Rock Albums charts, driven by strong response to the 30th Anniversary reissue.

The iconic metal band released a remastered deluxe box set of their most popular album in celebration of the 30th anniversary on September 10 via the band’s own Blackened Recordings.

The self-titled album, commonly referred to as the Black Album, was the band’s fifth studio album. It received widespread critical acclaim and became the band’s best-selling album after originally releasing on August 12, 1991.

The album jumped from 28th spot to No. 1 on Top Rock Albums, with 37,000 equivalent album units earned in the September 10-16 tracking period, according to MRC Data.

The Black Album is Metallica’s fourth ruler on Top Rock Albums, which began in 2006. The set is also the band’s fourth leader on Hard Rock Albums.

Meanwhile, the iconic album also returned to the top 10 on Billboard‘s all-genre 200 chart.

During its initial release, the album had debuted at No. 1 in ten countries and spent four consecutive weeks at the top of the Billboard 200, making it Metallica’s first album to top the album charts.
