Cinephiles around the globe have a treat this week with two big releases hitting the screens on the festive occasion of Eid. While Hindi film audience will receive their Eidi in the form of Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif starrer Bharat, it will be a big day for fans of Marvel’s X-Men franchise as the series concludes with Sophie turner starrer X-Men: Dark Phoenix. The buzz around both films is tremendous and business is going to be great considering early release banking on the festival. A period drama with star power on one hand, whereas the culmination of 20 years of sci-fi X-Men on the other, Eid 2019 sounds like an entertainment extravaganza.

Synopsis:Based on the South Korean melodrama Ode to My Father that released in the year 2014, Bharat is set in 1947, the period of partition of India. The original traced the history of South Korea parallel to a man’s life, spanning between 1950 and 2010. Likewise, Ali Abbas Zafar’s film traces the life of Bharat played by Salman Khan over a period of 60 years, from 18 to 70 years of age, while also detailing India’s post-independence history. Keeping his promise made to his father as an eight-year-old, Bharat joins The Great Russian Circus in 1964 and earns a reputation of being a playboy. Thereafter, he falls in a romantic relationship with his chief engineer Kumud Raina played by Katrina Kaif. He also volunteers for the Indian Navy and later holds the family business together.

X-Men: Dark Phoenix
