Newlyweds Killed In Car Accident Moments After They Tied The Knot

We honestly can’t even imagine these two families having to deal with the aftermath of this tragedy.

Texas newlyweds Harley Joe Morgan and Rhiannon Boudreaux Morgan had been married for literally moments on Friday afternoon when — as they left the Office of the Justice of the Peace where they tied the knot — they were killed in a car accident. Apparently, as they pulled out onto the highway from the office, a pickup truck towing a trailer slammed into their car, killing them both instantly.

The young couple, who were 19 years old (Harley) and 20 (Rhiannon), had been childhood sweethearts for years, and opted to make things official with the certificate at the Justice of the Peace in their small town of Orange, Texas.

The couple had been on their way to file their marriage license paperwork at the courthouse when the accident occurred; they were then supposed to celebrate with cake at Harley’s mother’s house in the city. They had been planning a larger ceremony for friends and family to be done in December, too, but Friday’s meeting was to make things official and actually sign off on the marriage certificate.

Harley’s mother, LaShawna Morgan, spoke to WLKY about the unfathomable tragedy, saying (below):

“They hadn’t even been married for five minutes.”

So, so sad. We honestly can’t even imagine. Ugh…

The elder Morgan added more about the death of her son, and her daughter-in-law — and what meaning or bigger picture the rest of us might be able to draw from it (below):

“The only thing they wanted was to get married and start their life. The two of them had so many dreams and they wanted their family surrounding them. Life is precious. You don’t know how much longer you are going to have a person. Stop worrying about the small stuff. This should’ve been the happily ever after story.”

Amen…

In a horrifying twist, the same person who served as the Justice of the Peace in signing off on the couple’s marriage certificate — a woman named Joy Dubose-Simonton — was moments later the coroner who also officially pronounced the couple dead at the accident scene, not far from the office where the marriage happened. Absolutely unreal…

Local news outlets further mourned the couple’s death, too (below):

"Those two babies. The only thing that they wanted was to get married and start their life. The two of them had so many…

So, so sad. Honestly such an unfathomable, horrible tragedy that these two young people weren’t able to live out their lives together on this planet.

Just awful. We don’t even know what to say.

Our hearts go out to all their friends, family members, and loved ones now left mourning.

R.I.P.
