Rebekah Vardy tells Coleen Rooney ‘put your money where your mouth is’ in explosive post

Rebekah Vardy has hit out at Coleen Rooney after being ordered to pay £1.5million in legal fees following the 'Wagatha Christie' trial.

Rebekah, 40, took Coleen Rooney, 36, to the High Court in July accusing her of libel, after Coleen claimed her fellow WAG's Instagram account was linked to stories about her leaking to the press.

The wife of Jamie Vardy sensationally lost the case – and now a judge has ordered that she should pay 90% of Rooney’s costs.

Rebekah isn't taking it lying down though, as she's taken to Instagram to level a number of comments at Coleen following the ruling.

Earlier today, she shared a cryptic post on her Instagram stories which read: "It's always the ones with the dirty hands pointing the fingers."

Rebekah wasn't finished there, though, as she later posted a picture of a jar full of coins which had a label that read: "Charity."

Over the top, Rebekah shared a quote from the days after Coleen's victory in the libel trial. It read: "She'd [Coleen] be far happier to see the money they would have spent on lawyers being used in a more positive and productive way."

Tagging Coleen on Instagram, Rebekah wrote: "Let's hope you put your money where your mouth is and some good can come of this whole embarrassing spectacle!"

Coleen, meanwhile, has stayed silent on social media and hasn't reacted to Rebekah's posts.

In an order made public on Tuesday, the judge ruled that Rebekah should pay 90% of Coleen's huge legal costs.

Coleen incurred total costs of more than £2 million, but £350,000 of those had already been racked up before the trial in May, so those were removed to produce a final figure of £1,667,860.

Rebekah has been ordered to pay £800,000 of the costs by 4pm on 15 November.

She will also have to pay costs incurred by seven journalists who were potential witnesses but did not give evidence. Coleen has been ordered to pay a portion of their costs.

The judge ruled on various issues relating to Coleen's costs after receiving written legal arguments on behalf of both women.

After the week-long trial that gripped the nation in July, Wayne Rooney's wife shared how "pleased" she was that the ruling went in her favour.

However, she said she “never believed” the case should have gone to court “at such expense in times of hardship for so many people when the money could have been far better spent helping others".

She continued: “Both before and after my social media posts in October 2019, I made every effort to avoid the need for such a drawn out and public court case. All my attempts to do so were knocked back by Mrs (Rebekah) Vardy.

“This left me with no alternative but to go through with the case to defend myself and to end the repeated leaking of my private information to The Sun.

“These leaks from my private Instagram account began in 2017. They continued for almost two years, intruding on my privacy and that of my family. Although I bear Mrs Vardy no ill-will, today’s judgment makes clear that I was right in what I said in my posts of October 2019."

She added: "Finally, I would like to thank all of my legal team, my family, friends and everyone who supported me, including the public, through this difficult and stressful time.”
