Ruth Langsford devastated as sister Julie dies: 'My heart is completely broken'

Ruth Langsford revealed her sister, Julia Johnson, has died, after a ‘long illness’.

The This Morning star confirmed the tragic news on Twitter, explaining she was completely ‘broken’.

Sharing a snap alongside her late sister, the 59-year-old told her 589k followers: ‘My lovely Sis Julia has sadly died after a very long illness. My heart is completely broken.

‘She was the kindest and most gentle soul and I will miss her forever. As I am sure you will appreciate I need to take time to grieve with my family.

‘Thank you for your understanding.’

Fans rushed to offer support, with one posting: ‘So sorry for your loss. Thoughts are with you and your family x.’

‘I’m so sorry of course we understand just come back when you’re good and ready sending so much love and lots of hugs your way lovely,’ another replied.

While a Twitter user commented: ‘Oh Dear Ruth I am so terribly sorry to read this my heart goes out to you and to your family! Thinking of you very much!’

‘I’m so sorry Ruth Sending lots of love to you all,’ Gemma Atkinson added.

It is not yet known exactly how Julia, 62, died, but an insider explained she had been ill for a long time before her death.

‘Ruth is utterly heartbroken and devastated to have found out her beloved sister Julia has died,’ a source told The Sun.

‘She adored Julia. They were very close – speaking all the time on the phone and enjoying girls’ days out.

‘Julia had been unwell for quite some time but this has shaken Ruth to the core.’

They also revealed Ruth’s husband, Eamonn Holmes, and their son Jack had been ‘comforting her’ at home.
