The wife of Pogues frontman Shane MacGowan has issued an update about his health after asking fans to “send prayers” for him. In her latest post, Victoria Mary Clarke said things were looking positive for the singer.
Taking to Twitter on Tuesday evening, she wrote: “I just wanted to thank everyone who has been sending good wishes for @ShaneMacGowan.
“He is being treated for an infection and the doctors are confident that he will be ok.
“I am just incredibly grateful to them and to all of you.”
Shane has been confined to a wheelchair since shattering his pelvis in a horror fall several years ago.
The 64-year-old broke his pelvis in 2016 and later fell and broke his knee.
He ended up tearing ligaments in his left knee, injuries which he has never fully recovered from.
Yesterday, she shared a picture of Shane smiling for the camera.
She typed: “Please send prayers and healing vibes to Shane MacGowan in hospital again and really hoping to get out asap!! Thank you.”
Many of her 27,000 followers flocked to her post to comment on the good news.
Belinda Welsh wrote: “Wishing Shane a speedy recovery.”
Jo commented: “That’s such a great news! Still sending all the good, healing vibes and positive energy!”
Luke typed: “Sending all my love to both of you, Shane MacGowan is a living legend.”
