Simone Biles' Brother, Tevin Biles-Thomas, Was Just Arrested for Triple Homicide

Literally everyone knows who Simone Biles is. As a multi-Olympic world champion gymnast, Simone’s name has been in our mouths since 2016. But her brother is in the news today for a much less happy reason.

Earlier today, Tevin Biles-Thomas, 24, was charged with murder in connection to a shooting that took place in Cleveland, Ohio that resulted in the deaths of three men.

According to a press release from the Cleveland Division of Police and the Cuyahoga County Prosecutor’s Office, Tevin was taken into custody last night in Georgia. He has been charged with six counts murder, three counts of voluntary manslaughter, five counts of felonious assault, and one count of perjury.

Tevin was arrested for an incident that took place earlier this year on New Year’s Eve. A party was apparently being held at an Airbnb in Cleveland, and at around 11:30pm, an “uninvited group” crashed it. An altercation between the uninvited group and original Airbnb guests ensued shortly after. Guns were drawn, and a shooting took place at the residence. Three men—Devaughn Gibson, 23, Toshaun Banks, 21 and Delvante Johnson, 19— were killed. Two others were injured.

“The relentless persistence of Cleveland Police Homicide detectives helped secure an indictment in this case,” said Prosecutor O’Malley of Cuyahoga County in the release. “It is through their hard work that we can begin to seek justice for these victims.”

Tevin is on active duty with the United States Army but is now being held at Liberty County Jail in Hinesville, Georgia. His arraignment is set to take place in approximately two weeks on September 13, but it is unknown at the moment if he’ll be extradited and sent back to Cleveland for holding.
