SUV involved in deadly shootout registered to rapper YG

The SUV involved in a deadly shootout with authorities in Los Angeles belonged to rapper YG, but he says he had nothing to do with it.

The 29-year-old musician told TMZ he has no idea how an armored Cadillac Escalade registered in his name came to be involved.

“I was nowhere near the scene of this incident and had been in a recording studio all day in Hollywood,” he said. “I was there until after midnight on the Fourth of July and didn’t learn of these events until after they happened.”

The incident began around 11:20 pm after Los Angeles sheriff’s deputies tried to pull over the SUV, which was allegedly driving recklessly. An occupant of the vehicle opened fire on the officers with what police described to the Los Angeles Times as a “high-power assault rifle.”

Cops immediately returned fire and chased the Escalade all the way to Inglewood. The vehicle had “aftermarket” armor plating and bulletproof windows, the LA Times reported.

The paper described the victim as a man in his sixties who apparently was standing near the crossfire. A sheriff’s deputy was also wounded.

One man was reportedly arrested. He was not immediately identified.
