The Crips are trying to trademark Nipsey Hussle slogan

The Crips gang is trying to trademark Nipsey Hussle’s slogan, according to reports.

The Los Angeles gang, under the LA Crips corporation, filed for a trademark for “The Marathon Continues,” which was the name of the slain, Grammy-nominated rapper’s 2011 mixtape and clothing line, local outlet KTLA reported.

According to the application, filed earlier this month, the gang plans to use the phrase to promote services geared toward community building, including youth sports programs.

Other services include “developing educational manuals for others in the field of community organizing, gang prevention” and “gang intervention,” The Blast reported.

The LA-born rapper, who was gunned down outside his clothing store March 31, joined the Crips-affiliated set Rollin’ 60s, when he was 14-years-old, he said in a 2014 interview.

Following his death — allegedly at the hands of reputed gang member Eric Holder — more than 30 gangs came together to discuss possible truces.

Hussle, 33, was was well known for investing in his community and was set to meet with the Los Angeles Police Department over how to curb gang violence the day after he was killed.

The Crips and Bloods registered as holding companies under Crips LLC and Bloods LLC in 2018 in an attempt to “shine up a sullied reputation,” according to a press release. In recent years, they’ve taken part in organizing local community events.
