The Pretty Reckless Drop ‘Only Love Can Save Me Now’ Video Featuring Soundgarden Members

The Pretty Reckless have shared a music video for their latest single, “Only Love Can Save Me Now,” featuring Soundgarden‘s Matt Cameron and Kim Thayil.

During an episode of Spotify‘s “Rock This With Allison Hagendorf,” the Pretty Reckless frontwoman Taylor Momsen said she asked Cameron and Thayil to play on the track because she didn’t want it to sound like they were ripping off Soungarden.

“It has this very kind of Soundgarden-esque feel to it, and I really wanted their voice to be a part of it,” Momsen said. “Because it just wouldn’t be the same without ’em, and man, was I correct.”

The Pretty Reckless were the opening band on Soundgarden’s final tour in 2017, when frontman Chris Cornell took his own life, and Momsen has cited the band as one of her biggest influences.

“It’s hard to describe the feeling around our song ‘Only Love Can Save Me Now,'” Momsen said. “The song was born out of tragedy and brought to life by two of my favorite musicians of all time — Matt Cameron and Kim Thayil.”

“Hearing them play it is simply surreal. This song represents getting through the worst time in my life, and yet, is one of my proudest achievements,” she added. “It means that there is hope, and that life has to go on, and most importantly, is worth living.”

“Only Love Can Save Me Now” appears on the Pretty Reckless’ Death by Rock and Roll, which was released in February and reached No. 1 on Billboard‘s Top Albums, Rock, Hard Rock, and Digital Charts.
