It’s set to be yet another drama-filled week in the world of soaps, with the reveal of a secret identity, a killer past exposed and a shock hospital dash set to keep viewers on the edge of their seats.

Taking the lead will be EastEnders’ cancer-stricken Lola Pearce as she discovers who her long-lost mother is, while Corrie’s Eileen and Todd uncover the killer truth about Sean’s boyfriend while Emmerdale’s Sarah’s health takes a turn for the worst. 

So, MailOnline takes a look at the biggest storylines that are set grip viewers in soapland this week… 

EastEnders 

In Albert Square, Lola Pearce will finally learn the identity of her long-lost mother – but their reunion is far from harmonious. 

In upcoming scenes, the cancer-stricken mum will be called to daughter Lexi’s school after reports that an unknown adult had attacked Lexi’s school friend Maisie for picking on her about Lola’s poor health.

As she heads to the school amid the news of Maisie’s attack, Lola (Danielle Harold) fears her online presence amid her vlog may be to blame, with the hairdresser then beginning to worry for her and her family’s safety. 

However, later at the salon, her world is turned upside down when she learns the true identity of her client ‘Nicole’.

Meanwhile, Scheming villain Nish Panesar is set to rage war on the Mitchells as he steps up his plan to command the family empire.

In upcoming scenes, he enlists Eve Unwin’s help to reassess their current businesses as he’s keen to expand the Panesar business.

However, his wife Suki Panesar is enraged to find both Eve and Nish interfering with her business contracts and is quick to remind her family that she is in charge. 

Later, there are tensions brewing between Nish (Navin Chowdhry) and Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) when the possibility of a new business deal comes into question.

Trouble: Later, there are tensions brewing between Nish (Navin Chowdhry) and Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) when the possibility of a new business deal comes into question

Suki (Balvinder Sopal) warns her husband to steer clear of the Mitchells, however, her words are ignored when he later enlists the help of their willing son Vinny (Shiv Jalota) for a brand new plan.

Later, Nish and Vinny go behind Suki’s back and wage war on the Mitchell, with their actions then resulting in an enraged Phil storming into the Panesar home to point the finger at Nish. But despite the betrayal, Suki is quick to jump in and defend her husband, swiftly giving him an alibi. 

However, revenge is later taken on the family when an unwanted intruder ransacks the Minute Mart, leaving Nish and Suki rattled. And while a worried Eve (Heather Peace) steps in to help clear up the mess, Suki confronts her husband at home.

Later, Phil and Kat Slater (Jessie Wallace) arrive for a tense lunch with Suki and Nish to discuss business. But just how will the meal go down?

Elsewhere, Zack Hudson continues to struggle to come clean about his HIV positive diagnoses.

As he begins his HIV medication, the character continues to be riddled with guilt that he’s kept Whitney in the dark about his condition, while she’s still reeling from the news about their baby’s health.

After sharing some encouraging words, Zack convinces Whitney to head to the hospital for further testing. But she’s none the wise as Zack secretly struggles as he suffers with the side effects from his medication.

Meanwhile, Chelsea Fox (Zaraah Abrahams) suspects something is up with Whitney (Shona McGarty), but her pal stays quiet about her situation when she’s quizzed in front of Finlay and Felix Baker. 

Attempting to cheer up their pal, Chelsea, Finlay (Ashley Byam) and Felix (Matthew James Morrison) host a movie night to distract Whitney, however, the evening is interrupted by an unexpected visitor.  

Later, Zack (James Farrar) struggles to come to terms with recent events and overcome with emotion, breaks down to sister Sharon (Letitia Dean) who has grown increasingly worried for his wellbeing.

However, Zack is still overwhelmed with shame about his HIV diagnosis and only tells Sharon part of his problems as he’s not able to reveal the full truth just yet.

Instead, he informs her about Whitney’s recent Omphalocele diagnosis (birth defect of the abdominal wall), with Sharon sharing wise words with her sibling as she draws from her own experience of parenthood. 

The gym owner vows to stand by her brother and support him, before encouraging him to fight for Whitney and their baby – with Zack feeling lighter at having unloaded some of his emotional turmoil.

Over in Weatherfield, Sean Tully’s boyfriend Laurence’s sinister past will be revealed , leaving the barman fearing for his life as they head off on a minibreak.

Todd’s suspicions of Laurence are piqued as he pulls up in a taxi while the pair are walking up the street.

The driver recognises Laurence and warns Todd (Gareth Pierce) and Eileen (Sue Cleaver) that their friend needs to watch his back. 

Todd tells Sean (Antony Cotton) about the cab driver, and outside the Rovers, Sean grabs Todd’s phone, finds the taxi app and shows Laurence (Robert Shaw Cameron) a picture of Mitch the taxi driver. 

Laurence makes out he’s never seen him before, but back at No.11, a suspicious Eileen reveals that she’s found a picture online of Laurence and his wife with her arm round Mitch, the taxi driver.

Meanwhile, Serial killer Stephen Reid will put himself under even more pressure as he plots a secret business deal behind Carla Connor’s back. 

Stephen (Todd Boyce) has been desperate to boost his earnings in recent weeks after killing Teddy Thompkins (Grant Burgin) and his son Leo (Joe Frost) to hide his mounting debts.

Cashing in: In upcoming scenes, Stephen joins forces with Sarah Platt and Michael Bailey to bring in new clients, even asking Beth Tinker to work through the night to make up samples

And this week, Michael (Ryan Russell) and Sarah (Tina O’Brien) agree they need to think big with their designs and bombard all of the retailers on Stephen’s list.

However, it appears that Sarah’s workload could spark tension in her relationship with Adam, as she turns down their dinner plans.

Admitting she needs to work late again as they’re trying to win a big contract, Adam (Samuel Robertson) tells her that they need to make time to talk about having a baby.

Sarah admits that now isn’t the right time to be thinking about a baby, and in the factory she watches as Beth (Lisa George) works away on new samples.

Having spent all night working on them, Beth admits to Michael that her machine has jammed, and if Carla (Alison King) sees it she’ll realise she’s been moonlighting. 

Sarah and Michael meet up with Rufus from Donahues and show him their samples, while Stephen shows him around the factory. However, his cover is nearly blown when Carla returns and Stephen quickly steers Rufus away.

Oops! But later, Peter tells Carla that he drove Rufus the client in his taxi… will she realise what Stephen has been up to?

In the bistro, Rufus quizzes Stephen, who hastily makes out that Carla is his PA. The trio’s plans work as Rufus announces that he’d like the exclusive rights to their products.  

Peter (Chris Gascoyne) proceeds to give him a lift in his taxi and is surprised when Rufus explains that he’s here to do a deal with the factory. 

In The Bistro, Sarah, Michael and Stephen raise a toast to their new successful business… but when Peter reveals that he gave Rufus a lift and apparently he’s doing a deal with the factory, will Carla realise what Stephen was up to? 

Terrifying! In dramatic scenes, Ryan and Sam are left fearing for their lives after the masked men break in and demand the drugs are handed over

Elsewhere, villain Damon Hay’s illegal drug plot looks set to cause yet more drama for Nick Tilsey and his son Sam, after The Bistro is invaded by masked gunmen.

In the upcoming episodes, Nick (Ben Price) calls Damon (Ciaran Griffiths) and confirms that the drugs have been delivered, after learning of his scheme last week. But just hours later, two masked men enter the Bistro and pointing a gun at Ryan (Ryan Prescott), demand that he hand over the drugs. 

Ryan is left terrified whilst young Sam (Jude Riordan) dives under a table and calls his dad Nick, and as he answers, a gunshot can be heard coming from the bistro. 

Nick, Leanne (Jane Danson) and Damon race towards the bistro fearing for Sam and Ryan, and having been alerted to the gunshot the police arrive, as a handler arrives in the bistro with his sniffer dog.

Desperate: Later, Craig tells Leanne that they’ve arrested two men who they suspect were the gunmen, and she calls Nick and implores him to rid of the drugs

Nick warns Damon to come and pick up the drugs or he’ll dispose of them down the toilet, prompting the villain to try and make a quick getaway.

Having placed the holdall of drugs in the boot, Damon climbs into his car, but suddenly police sirens are heard… will he make his getaway?

It appears not, as in the following episode, Dee-Dee stops at the Bistro looking for Damon, and Leanne reveals he’s been banged up in Weatherfield Police Station for drug-dealing.

Emmerdale 

Meanwhile in the Dales, Sarah Sugden will be rushed back in hospital after once again overhearing a row between Mackenzie Boyd and Chloe Harris. 

The teen, who has battled with health problems in the past, will leave her loved ones terrified when she starts struggling to breath, leaving Mack and Chloe torn on whether to come clean about their one-night stand.

In upcoming scenes, Mack (Lawrence Robb) tries to join in Charity’s happy banter but remains haunted by the secret guilt he’s carrying. 

The next day, Mackenzie reveals to Chloe (Jessie Elland) that he’s going to tell Charity (Emma Atkins) about the baby, but they both don’t realise that Sarah has just come back out of her bedroom and has overheard them from upstairs. 

Chloe’s flummoxed as she realises Mackenzie is not backing down and he’s going to tell Charity the truth today, and he encourages her to leave, despite her insistence she has nowhere to go. 

While Sarah is still listening upstairs, Chloe remains determined to stand her ground and stay, insisting she will not be thrown to the wolves by Mackenzie.

Then, just as Mackenzie and Chloe are about to reveal their secret to Charity, Sarah comes stumbling down the stairs, struggling to breathe. 

Charity instructs Mack to call an ambulance whilst Sarah hyperventilates, and in A&E the teen is wheeled off for medical treatment. 

Mack holds emotional Charity and looks across to Chloe; it seems the pair’s plans to tell the truth are on hold.

Elsewhere, Paddy Dingle will grow close to his ex Mandy Dingle again as he continues to struggle in the wake of his split from cheating wife Chas.

After his attempt to get back into the dating pool ends in disaster, Paddy is left feeling isolated after his spouse tears a strip off him for his controlling behaviour, sparking Mandy to step in and offer her support.

In the upcoming scenes, Bear (Joshua Richards) surprises Paddy (Dominic Brunt) when he reveals he’s set up a double date, and while Paddy remains polite, he is horrified he’s being forcibly thrown back into the dating pool.

Luckily, Paddy thinks up an excuse and sighs with relief as Bear leaves with Carol and Bev, but the next day, Chas (Lucy Pargeter) is taken aback when she thinks she overhears Paddy bragging about being single. 

Shortly after, when Chas flirtatiously banters with Kev the drayman, Paddy is cut deep. 

Having had enough of his treatment of her, Chas puts Paddy in his place over his controlling behaviour and reminds him that it’s his choice to remain living with her.

Mandy is concerned as the exchange leaves Paddy looking bereft, and the next day, Paddy tries to hide from his ex but has no luck. 

As Paddy admits he’s lost, Mandy wordlessly moves in to hold her broken ex-partner, admitting she knows hard it can be to move forward when you still love someone. Paddy is quietly struck by Mandy’s observation and senses that perhaps she knows how he feels right now. 

Back at the Woolpack, as they open a bottle of wine, the former flames both find themselves coyly avoiding making eye contact – as the implication of Mandy’s words hangs between them. 

Annoyed: After he becomes irked by her flirty behaviour, Chas puts Paddy in his place over his controlling behaviour and reminds him that it’s his choice to remain living with her

Finally, Ethan Anderson and Nate Robinson will join forces for a risky honeytrapping plot, as they plot to expose his sleazy boss Greg.

The lawyer has been determined to reveal his creepy behaviour after seeing him try and grope his partner Marcus, and in the coming episodes will turn to desperate measures.

In the upcoming scenes, Ethan (Emile John) explains to Marcus (Darcy Grey) and Naomi (Karene Peter) that Greg (Daniel Betts) is trying to discredit the complaint. 

Ethan made a formal complaint about Greg late last year after catching him getting a little too handsy with Marcus, but his boss has vowed to escape retribution for his inappropriate behaviour. 

In retribution, Greg attempted to discredit the couple’s business with a barrage of negative online reviews, throwing their future prospects into jeopardy. 

Will it work? Finally, Ethan Anderson and Nate Robinson will join forces for a risky honeytrapping plot, as they plot to expose his sleazy boss Greg

Unsure what to do about the injustice of it all, Ethan reveals that he’s considering dropping the investigation and quitting his job. 

Naomi reveals to Marcus that she has an idea to help swing the scales of justice in Ethan’s favour. 

Naomi’s plan takes shape, but looks set to fail as Nate (Jurell Carter) refuses to be bait and Marcus voices his concerns. But when Naomi stresses Ethan could lose his career, Nate agrees and heads off to the bar, catching Greg’s eye.

Greg approaches and offers to buy Nate a drink – the plan is finally in motion. With his phone recording, Nate is shyly standing by the bar with Greg as they flirt.
