Who are the godparents to the royal children? From Prince George to Archie Harrison

With Prince George, Princess Charlotte, Prince Louis and Archie Harrison, we have some very adorable royal children to gush over.

And it’s without question that we’ve got to know their parents, Kate Middleton and Prince William and Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, very well since they’ve been in the public eye – but who are their godparents?

Here’s everything you need to know…

Prince George’s godfathers – Hugh Grosvenor

Hugh Grosvenor, who is the Duke of Westminster, is one of Prince George’s godfathers.

Hugh became the Duke of Westminster in August 2016 after the death of his father Gerald — who was a close friend to the Royal family.

He is the richest person in the world under the age of 30 and was named as one of six year old Prince George’s Godparents at his christening in October 2013.

Earlier this year he donated over £12million to the fight again coronavirus.

Prince George’s godfathers – Jamie Lowther-Pinkerton

Prince George’s other godfather is Jamie Lowther-Pinkerton, the former private secretary to the royal couple. He has a long serving military career.

Prince George’s godfathers –Oliver Baker

Another godfather of Prince George’s is Oliver Baker; a good friend of the Cambridge’s who was a student alongside them at St. Andrew’s University in Scotland.

Prince George’s godmothers – Julia Samuel

A lady named Julia Samuel is the godmother to Prince George. She is the head of the Child Bereavement charity in the UK and was one of Princess Diana’s close friends.

Prince George’s godmothers – Zara Tindall

Zara Tindall, the Queen’s granddaughter and Prince William’s cousin, is also godmother to Prince George.

Princess Charlotte’s godfathers – Tom van Straubenzee

One of Princess Charlotte’s godfathers is Tom van Straubenzee; a lifelong friend of Prince William.

Princess Charlotte’s godfathers – James Meade

Another friend of Prince Williams, James Meade, also made the cut and is Charlotte’s godfather. James gave a best man speech at Prince William and Kate’s wedding and was a classmate of Prince William’s.

Princess Charlotte’s godmothers – Sophie Carter

Sophie Carter, a close friend of Kate’s is Charlotte’s godmother. Sophie has accompanied the royal couple on a family ski trip before and is often seen with them.

Princess Charlotte’s godmothers – Laura Fellowes

Princess Charlotte’s other godmother is Laura Fellowes; the daughter of Princess Diana’s sister, Cynthia Jane Fellowes.

Prince Louis’s godfathers – Nicholas van Cutsem

Prince Louis’s godfather is Nicholas van Cutsem, the brother of Prince George’s godfather William van Cutsem. Nicholas is another close friend of Prince William’s.

Prince Louis’s godfathers – Guy Pelly

Another good friend of the Cambridge’s is Guy Pelly, who was also chosen to be a godfather to Prince Louis. According to People, Guy reportedly planned Prince William’s bachelor party.

As well, Harry Aubrey-Fletcher is Prince Louis’s godfather – a close friend of Prince William’s from Eton College.

Prince Louis’s godmothers – Lady Laura Meade

Lady Laura Meade is godmother to Prince Louis. She’s a good friend of the Cambridge’s and daughter of Julian Marsham, 8th Earl of Romney.

Prince Louis’s godmothers – Hannah Carter

Hannah Carter is also a godmother; she is the sister-in-law of Sophie Carter, Princess Charlotte’s godmother, and a close friend of Kate’s.

Archie Harrison’s godfather – Mark Dyer

The secret godparents of the Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s son, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, were revealed to be two of Harry’s closest childhood mentors.

Archie’s godmother is Tiggy Pettifer who was nanny to Harry and William when they were young and his godfather is Mark Dyer, who is one of Harry’s friends and advisors. They were asked to be godparents by the Sussexes ahead of baby Archie’s christening last July.

Mark Dyer, 53, is a former equerry to the Prince of Wales. This means he was an officer of honour and a personal attendant. During this time he became a mentor and friend to Charles’ sons. Mark advised them on their military careers and since that time has remained one of Harry’s best friends.

Archie Harrison’s godmother – Tiggy Pettifer

Initially Harry and Meghan declined to reveal who they had chosen to be their son’s godparents, but the two of them were then named by The Sunday Times. Mrs Pettifer, 54, looked after William and Harry between 1993 and 1999. She became like a mother to the two princes after their mother, Princess Diana, died in 1997.
