Maharashtra CM inaugurates Palghar district headquarters building, ‘largest in country’

The headquarters was inaugurated virtually after Thackeray and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar cancelled their visit to Palghar due to bad weather.

Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray Thursday inaugurated a sprawling new administrative complex for Palghar district.

The Palghar District headquarters is situated in Kolgaon, Boisar Road and has been developed by the City and Industrial Development Corporation (CIDCO) over 103 hectares. The office of the district collector and district magistrate, Superintendent of Police, zilla parishad, new administration building and court are all part of the Palghar headquarters, which is said to be largest administrative complex in the country.

The headquarters was inaugurated virtually after Thackeray and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar cancelled their visit to Palghar due to bad weather.

Thackeray directed officials to undertake development works by preserving tribal culture and traditions in the district and enhance the reputation of the new building.

He said, “The district has forest resources and medicinal plants. Chikoo, an important fruit of the district, has gone overseas. Warli painting is one of the most important elements of tradition. All these factors should be given impetus to create a distinct identity for the district. Entrepreneurs should be encouraged to invest by giving various concessions to industries in the district.”

As many as 60 district level offices will be set up in the administrative building. A total of 41 government offices have been set up in Palghar district while the remaining 23 departmental offices need to be set up soon. CIDCO was given the task of building the headquarters of Palghar after the district was formed in 2014.
