13 Covid-19 patients die in hospital fire

Vijay Vallabh Hospital in Maharashtra Virar fire: The fire broke out in the ICU- intensive care unit on the second floor of the four-storeyed Vijay Vallabh Hospital, Vasai of Palghar district, Maharashtra. The fire broke out after 3 am, an official said.  And Firefighters extinguished the blaze  morning at 5.20 am.

According to the latest report, thirteen Coronavirus patients died in a blaze at the intensive care unit – ICU of a private hospital in Palghar district of Maharashtra. This incident took place on 23rd April  2021.  The Disaster Control Cell chief Vivekanand Kadam revealed that the fire was preceded by an explosion in the AC unit of ICU- intensive care unit. The official said that there were seventeen patients in the ICU- intensive care unit when the fire broke out. 4 patients were rescued and they were shifted to nearby hospitals.

The fire tragedy comes 2 days after 22 Coronavirus patients who were either on ventilator or oxygen support, suffocated to  the death when the oxygen supply stopped suddenly at a civic hospital in Nashik.

Narendra Modi condoled the loss of lives in a blaze at a private hospital in Maharashtra‘s Palghar district and approved an ex gratia of Rs 2 lakh.
