Boy killed in wall collapse

Raja, 14, of Kaththadipatti near Sengipatti died after he was caught under the debris of a wall that collapsed at Manaiyeripatti on Thursday evening.

According to police, the incident took place around 5 p.m. while the deceased was returning home from his school at Manaiyeripatti. He took refuge near a wall of a dilapidated building at Manaiyeripatti as showers with strong wind took him by surprise.

While he was standing near the wall it suddenly collapsed and fell on him. On seeing him trapped beneath the debris, local residents rescued him and rushed him to the primary health centre at the nearby Kaththappati where he was declared dead on arrival. The Sengipatti police have registered a case and are investigating.
