Demand peaks for MGU’s Finance and Taxation course

UC College, Aluva, emerges as the most preferred college

The B.Com Model I course in Finance and Taxation has emerged as the most-sought-after undergraduate programme offered by Mahatma Gandhi University (MGU) in the new academic year.

Of the 6.44 lakh option registrations under the Centralised Allotment Process (CAP), 92,333 students picked up the course as their most preferred choice. The trend is a repeat of the demand for an undergraduate course in Finance and Taxation by aspirants over the last two years.

The BA Economics Model I programme emerged second among the most preferred courses. As many as 58,085 students opted for the course, while BA English Language and Literature Model I came third, with the option count touching 48,688 for the academic year 2019-20.

Among science courses, B.Sc Chemistry Model I continued its top position this time. As many as 38,782 students opted for the course. B.Sc Zoology Model I came second in the stream, with 35,652 candidates opting for the programme, followed by B.Sc Botany Model I (29,501).

The number of students who went for B.Sc Mathematics Model 1 as the first choice stood at 22,927. As many as 20,964 students selected BA History Model I course, while the aided B.Com Model I Computer Applications course had 17,370 takers. As many as 16,172 students opted for the B. Com Model II programme as their first choice. The option count for Bachelor of Computer Applications course was 13,398.

UC College, Aluva, was the most preferred college for students who opted for courses including BA Economics Model I, BA English Language and Literature Model I; B.Sc Chemistry Model I, B.Sc Zoology Model I, B. Sc Physics Model I, B.Sc Botany Model I, B.Sc Mathematics Model I, BA History Model I, and BSc Psychology Model I.

Bharata Mata College, Thrikkakara, was the popular choice among students who opted for B.Com Model I Finance and Taxation as their first choice. Baselius College, Kottayam, was the preferred college for candidates who wanted to pursue the Bachelor of Business Administration programme.

St. Paul’s College, Kalamassery, was the most preferred college for those who opted for B.Com Model I Computer Applications (Aided) course. MES College, Marampilly, was the popular choice for those who opted for B.Com Model II Computer Applications, while Cochin College was the preferred institution for those who selected Bachelor of Computer Application as their first choice.
