KTR launches Johnson Controls OpenBlue Innovation Centre in Hyd

The Industries and IT minister K.T. Rama Rao inaugurated Johnson Controls OpenBlue Innovation Centre for engineering and excellence, in Hyderabad today. It also announced plans to set up its manufacturing unit in Hyderabad in the near future. After KTR’s request to the company to consider Telangana for setting up a production unit, the commitment to set up its manufacturing unit was revealed immediately.

During his discourse at the launch event, KTR said, “The state government is enhancing local manufacturing. Telangana can be the single stop destination for Johnson Controls and the only gateway to India. The business experience in India will vary with the gateway chosen. Telangana is progressive and Hyderabad has grown well and provides a lot of growth opportunities.”

The OpenBlue Innovation Centre is spread across 41,000 sqft at Gowra Fountainhead in Hitech City. Currently, it consists of 500 engineers and plans to create additional roles over the following couple of years. across functions. The Centre concentrates on research and development for security products.

The Chief Technology Officer of Johnson Controls, Vijay Sankaran said, “By deploying IoT, AI and 5G, buildings will be reimagined to deliver on decarbonisation, sustainability, energy, efficiency and renewable energy goals while optimising performance.” Providing a software engineering team, the prominent software entity Accenture will play akey role in the project.
