Man accused of cattle theft arrested

The Moodbidri police have arrested Mohammed Haneef, 45, of Koteshwara from Mangaluru taluk on the charge of cattle theft.

According to a press release, Haneef is accused in cattle theft cases in Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Uttara Kannada, Hassan, and Chikkamagaluru districts. A local court had issued a non-bailable warrant against Haneef as he had failed to appear before the court in the cattle theft case registered by Moodbidri police, the release said.

The Puttur Women police traced 16-year-old PU student, Sooraj, within 12 hours after he was reported missing on August 27. The police said Sooraj, a student of a private college in Puttur, was found in the Puttur Railway station on August 28.

The Moodbidri police on Friday arrested Muttu Raj, 28, accused in house theft, who had failed to appear before the jurisdictional court for over two years.
