A man has been arrested for allegedly snatching a purse from a passenger on Bhopal Shatabdi train last month, the police said on Sunday.

The incident took place on September 23, they said, adding that the victim, Alma Khan, got a zero FIR registered at Bhopal. Following this, a regular FIR was registered in this connection at New Delhi Railway Police station.

During investigation, the CCTV footage of the coach was obtained and a manhunt was launched. With the help of technical surveillance, Danish from Uttar Pradesh’s Najibabad was arrested.

During interrogation, he said that along with his friend Afjal, he had committed the theft.

Efforts are on to arrest Afjal.

In another incident, a hotel receptionist was targeted by a snatcher on Friday in Connaught Place, the police said on Sunday.

The victim was walking home when the incident happened. She alleged that a man snatched her mobile phone. “I had ₹15,000 inside the phone cover,” she added. An officer said a case has been registered in connection with the case and probe is under way.
