The BJP leader terms the State’s stand on Polavaram, PPAs faulty
Non-continuation of policy decisions and lack of quickness in announcing the new ones are putting the State on a backfoot, Bharatiya Janata Party leader Daggubati Purandeswari has said pointing out at the contrary statements on continuation of the Capital at Amaravati.
At a press conference here on Tuesday, Ms. Purandeswari said that the BJP had never asked the State government to go for re-tendering of the Polavaram works or review of PPAs in the power sector, but YSR Congress Party leaders were misleading people by giving such statements.
Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy met Home Minister Amit Shah and Union Minister for Jal Shakti Gajendra Singh Shekhawat and what transpired between them needs to come out into public.
The Centre had written letters to the State not to cancel the Polavaram tenders, but it had found some irregularities in it and that should be exposed and work continued so that the project should not be delayed. There was utter confusion prevailing with regard to pensions and sand policy badly affecting the construction industry. On Special Category Status to the State, she said none was talking about it now and the BJP was firm on its stand of giving financial benefits equal to that of SCS through special package giving ₹5,000 crore every year, but no government in the State was properly responding to it.
Terming the proposed plan to shift the Capital from Amaravati atrocious, she said foreign investments into the State would come down if the policies were changed so frequently and questioned as to how the State government proposes to account for ₹2,500 crore given by the Centre for Capital.
