Rajamouli wins Best Director for RRR at the New York Critics Circle awards

SS Rajamouli is best known for helming Baahubali series- Baahubali: the Beginning and Baahubali 2: the conclusion, Magadheera and his previous offering RRR is currently running in Japan and is doing decent collections. Now according to the latest update,  SS Rajamouli won the Best Director Award for RRR at the New York Film Critics Circle on Friday. The group is one of the first critics’ groups to weigh in on awards season.

SS Rajamouli’ win surprised many as his competitors included Darron Aronofsky, Sarah Polley, Steven Spielberg, and Gina Prince -Blythewood. . The New York Film Critics Circle, founded in  the year 1935, is the oldest critics group in the US, with members from newspapers, magazines and online publications. 

 Rajamouli’ magnum opus RRR starring Young Tiger Jr NTR and Mega Power Star Ram Charan has received a thunderous welcome in the foreign markets and this encouraged Variance Film to mount a massive campaign for Oscars for the movie.  RRR which is bankrolled by DVV Danayya under the banner of DVV Entertainment is competing to find a nomination spot in all the major categories including Best Picture (DVV Danayya), Best Actor (Jr NTR and Ram Charan), Best Director (SS Rajamouli), Best Supporting Actor (Ajay Devgn), Best Supporting Actress (Alia Bhatt) and more.
