Rich tributes paid to NTR

TDP cadre disrupt speech of Lakshmi Parvati

Rich tributes were paid to TDP founder and former Chief Minister late N.T. Rama Rao on the occasion of his 96th birth anniversary on Tuesday.

TDP Telangana leaders and NTR’s family members visited the NTR Ghat here and paid tributes to the late leader. NTR’s grandsons and film actors Jr. NTR and N. Kalyanram visited the NTR Ghat early in the morning and paid floral tributes to the legendary film actor.

Several Telangana Telugu Desam Party leaders too visited the spot and paid tributes.

The venue, NTR Ghat, witnessed tense moments when TDP cadre tried to obstruct NTR’s widow Lakshmi Parvati who came there to pay her respects.

Ms. Lakshmi Parvati who offered floral tributes to NTR’s samadhi expressed displeasure over the State Government’s failure to make necessary arrangements at late leader’s samadhi.

She lamented that the government failed to erect even a single banner, leave alone putting in place other basic amenities, commemorating the day.

She said people of Andhra Pradesh taught a fitting lesson to Telugu Desam Party president N. Chandrababu Naidu for his misrule and hoped that Chief Minister-designate Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy would rectify the lapses committed by the TDP regime.

At this point, the Telugu Desam Party workers who assembled there raised objections to Ms. Lakshmi Parvati speaking about politics.

They shouted slogans in favour of Mr. Naidu and against Ms. Lakshmi Parvati resulting in tense moments.

The irate cadre also shouted slogans against the government for not making any arrangements at the NTR Ghat to commemorate the former Chief Minister’s birth anniversary.
