Student from Raichur to watch Chandrayaan-2 landing with PM

For G. Vaishnavi, class IX student of Daffodils Concept School, Sindhanur, September 7 will be a very memorable day. She, along with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other students, will watch Chandrayaan-2 spacecraft landing on the lunar surface from the headquarters of Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) in Bengaluru.

Addressing a media conference here Tuesday, school principal Lakshminarayana said Ms. Vaishnavi was among the 60 students selected from educational institutions across the country to watch the scientific feat with the PM. Only two students have been selected from the State, he added.

“ISRO had announced an online test to be conducted between August 10 and 25, 2019, to select the students. The candidates had to answer 20 questions in 10 minutes,” he said.

“ My father created an email ID for the purpose. I participated in the test and answered all 20 questions about space science in just five minutes. I am excited to watch the Chandrayaan-2 landing with the Prime Minister,” said Ms. Vaishnavi.

“We couldn’t believe it when we received a mail from ISRO. We thought that it was a fake mail. Later, ISRO contacted the school authorities who called us to confirm the selection,” G. Nagaraj, Ms. Vaishnavi’s father.
