It is a triangular fight in TRS for the coveted Zilla Parishad chief post in the district. Dadannagari Vithal Rao, Bajireddy Jagan Mohan and Gaddam Sumana Reddy, are in the race and are trying their luck through various sources closer to party president and Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao.

The three include political novices as well as experienced. Ms. Sumana Reddy is the incumbent vice-chairperson of the Zilla Parishad and was elected ZPTC member from Indalwai this time. She represented Darpally ZPTC last time.

She has been in the party right from its inception and had been elected MPP president from Darpally in 2006.

She is confident of winning the chairperson post as former MP K. Kavitha reportedly promised her that.

“I have actively participated in the Telangana agitation and the party leadership believes in me,” she told The Hindu.

On the other hand, Bajireddy Jagan Mohan, who made his debut in politics by emerging victorious in Darpally ZPTC defeating the nearest rival and Congress nominee Armoor Chinna Balaraju with over 8,000 votes, is the most educated among all the ZPTC members. He did his MS in Engineering Sciences from Southern University of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, US. He graduated from GKM College of Engineering in Chennai.

Elder son of senior MLA Bajireddy Govardhan, the young politician though a novice had monitored the political scenario all these years. With his interest in public life, he wants to walk in his father’s footsteps.

He is not involved in any controversy and speaks English, Hindi, Tamil and of course Telugu. He said that if elected, he would work to the best of his capacity to serve the people.

The third contender, Dadannagari Vithal Rao, who has a gentleman image, is a humble politician. He began his political career as the single window chairman of Navipet mandal in 1988. Born in Gottimukkala village, he is the only ZPTC member elected unanimously in the district and is representing Makloor mandal.

Since he is related to the CM’s family, TRS leaders are of the opinion that he may have fair chances for the post. However, they added that the ZP chief post will be decided by none other than the party chief and no one has a say in it.
