Two arrested for abusing CM on social media

The High Grounds police, on Saturday, arrested a petrol pump attendant and his friend for allegedly circulating a video of them abusing Chief Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy and his family the day the Lok Sabha election results were announced. They circulated the video on WhatsApp.

The accused Siddaraju, 26, and his friend Chamaraju, 28, a taxi driver, are residents of Chanatappana. “When we tracked them down and questioned them, they said they were upset with the CM’s family politics and his party’s poor showing at the Lok Sabha elections,” the police said.

The video went viral on WhatsApp and reached one of the party members who filed a complaint with the High Grounds police on Saturday. Based on this, the police tracked down the duo and arrested them.

Siddaraju and Chamaraju have been charged with Sections 504 (Intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) and 505 (2) (intent to incite offence against community) and remanded into judicial custody.
