Youth murdered by friends

Police are hot on the heels of all the accused

A 22-year-old youth was murdered by his friends during a drunken brawl in Ramanthapur late on Saturday night.

Uppal police said Mogali Prasad, a private employee from KCR Nagar, was murdered by his friends Nagaraju, Ramesh, Sai, Prashant, Mushtaq and a few other youths from Venkatagiri Nagar in the same area.

Around 2 a.m. on Sunday, Nagaraju called up the victim and asked him to come near a wine shop in Srinagar colony. He went there only to see a group of people waiting for him, said investigators.

“Soon a heated argument ensued and they were screaming at each other. A local resident, Naresh Goud, who saw them fighting from his house, warned them and went back to sleep. At 5.30 a.m., Mr. Goud found Prasad’s body lying in a pool of blood and alerted us,” Uppal police said.

The victim was beaten to death with stones and sticks, they said. All accused are absconding.

In January, the victim’s father, Yadagiri, a car driver, had lodged a complaint with the police stating that his house was vandalised by two accused, Nagaraju and Ramesh. Based on that, a case had been registered against the duo. Police suspect they exacted revenge for the complaint by murdering Prasad.

A case under Section 302 (punishment for murder) has been registered against the accused.
