Shraddha Kapoor is the new Naagin of the big screen

Indian’s love supernatural fiction. Naagin is one of the most-loved franchises be it on the small screen or on the big screen. And now, Shraddha Kapoor is all set to be the new Naagin of the silver screen. Yes, you read that right. The shape-shifting snake film is said to be a trilogy that will be bankrolled by Nikhil Dwivedi. Vishal Furia will be taking the director’s seat. Hitherto, Sridevi, Hema Malini and Rekha have turned shape-shifting snakes on the silver screen. Shraddha seems pretty excited about being a part of the film.

Expressing her excitement, Shraddha said in a statement, “It’s an absolute delight for me to play a naagin on screen. I have grown up watching, admiring and idolising Sridevi ma’am’s Nagina and Nigahen and always wanted to play a similar role rooted in Indian traditional folklore. It’s like playing an iconic character, which has always been so fascinating for the audience.”

As per a report in TOI, the makers are planning to make it a VFX heavy film. There would be a lot of special effects used in the making. Earlier, Shraddha played the role of a supernatural being in Raj and DK’s Stree. On the other hand, Shraddha was last seen in Street Dancer 3D and Baaghi 3. While Street Dancer co-starring Varun Dhawan was heavily criticised, Baaghi 3 co-starring Tiger Shroff, Riteish Deshmukh and Ankita Lokhande was a hit. Fans loved the reunion of Shraddha and Tiger in the Baaghi franchise.

On the work front, Shraddha has a yet-untitled film with Ranbir Kapoor. Luv Ranjan will be helming the film, reports have stated. Meanwhile, Shraddha recently grabbed headlines when her name had been cropped up in the drug angle in connection with the Sushant Singh Rajput’s death case. She had been summoned by the NCB officials when her chats were leaked. After hours of questioning she had left the office.
