Nagpur: Elderly morning walker run over by train

A 64-year-old man died on Tuesday morning after being hit by a train in Yashodhara Nagar area in Nagpur, police said on Tuesday.

The deceased, identified as Maroti Mahkunji Bankar, was on a morning walk and failed to notice an approaching train while crossing the tracks, an official said.

Earthquake of magnitude 6.4 strikes Assam

An earthquake of magnitude 6.4 on Ritcher scale struck Assam early on Wednesday morning.

The earthquake occured at 7.51 a.m. The epicentre was 43 km west of Tezpur in Assam, at a depth of 17 km from the surface, according to the National Center for Seismology.

Ramu Kanagal succumbs to COVID-19

Ramu Kanagal, 53, dancer and son of Kannada film-maker the late Puttanna Kanagal, passed away on Wednesday morning due to COVID-19.

He had been admitted to Victoria Hospital and had been undergoing treatment.

He was running a dance academy called Kanagal Nrithyalaya in the city and had trained several dancers and movie artists.

Law varsity results in May

The Tamil Nadu Dr. Ambedkar Law University will publish the results of the online examinations for undergraduate and postgraduate degree courses of the School of Excellence in Law and affiliated law colleges in the first week of May.

The exams were held between January and March, according to R. Srinivasan, Controller of Examinations.

297 fresh cases in Virudhunagar

With one more death of COVID-19 patient, the total number of deaths in Virudhunagar district touched 241 on Friday.

A 69-year-old man from Virudhunagar, who tested positive on April 25 after being admitted to Government Rajaji Hospital in Madurai, died on April 27 due to acute respiratory distress syndrome and COVID pneumonia.

Meanwhile, the district recorded 297 fresh cases and 110 discharges.

Group sells over 2,000 fake injections

The Delhi Police arrested seven persons from Delhi and Uttarakhand for allegedly manufacturing fake Remdesivir injections. They have already sold around 2,000 fake injections. The company Nector Herbs and Drugs at Kotdwar is being sealed.
