BGT fans confused by David Walliams’ chair – but there’s a simple explanation

Britain’s Got Talent viewers were slightly distracted during Thursday’s live semi-final show, after spotting something about judge David Walliams .

As more acts took to the stage to earn a place in the live final on Sunday, the judges returned to the panel to give their verdicts.

But some fans of the ITV talent show were quick to spot something during said verdicts, noticing David had a different chair to the other judges.

Amanda Holden, Alesha Dixon and Simon Cowell all have the same black chair.

But David’s is navy and a completely different shape, with many fans questioning why his wasn’t the same as theirs.

This isn’t the first time fans have noticed this though, with viewers also taking to Twitter last year to ask the same thing.

David even took to his own Twitter account to address it in 2018, revealing why his chair was different.

He explained a back issue was behind the need for a different chair, following his swim in the River Thames in 2011 for Sports Relief.

David wrote: “For those of you who want to know why I have different chair to the other judges on @BGT it is because I had a back operation to remove a disc after my Thames swim for @sportrelief and so need to sit on chairs that are specially designed for people with back problems."

But this didn’t stop fans taking to Twitter a year on, again confused by the chair situation.

One fan said: “#BGT @davidwalliams has someone stole your chair?? Yours is the only one different from the others.”

Another asked: “Why does David have a different chair to the other judges??”

A third commented: “Why does David have a different chair?”

Britain’s Got Talent airs live all this week on ITV at 7:30pm.
