Sophie Turner Details Disastrously Awkward Way She Tried to Flirt with Matthew Perry

The “Game of Thrones” star tried to get the former “Friends” star’s attention just ten months before meeting Joe Jonas.

Sophie Turner may be one of the most famous women in the world, but it meant nothing when she decided to try and woo a man who was once everyone’s "Friend."

The "Dark Phoenix" star shared the story in a video for Twitter explaining the meaning behind various tweets. In this case it was when Turner shared how excited she was that "Chanandler Bong" was rehearsing a play near her place. She was so excited that she decided to try and get his attention.

To get an idea of how well this went, consider the fact that we have never heard of Turner and Perry ever being together and she absolutely did not follow up that "Chanandler Bong" tweet with a tweet about how she totally got his attention and everything went great.

In all honesty, though, it wasn’t a terrible idea. "I would walk around the corner every day to go to my local Budgens, which is a great little supermarket, and I would walk around the corner every day and I would see Matthew Perry smoking a cigarette," she said. "And I bought a lighter from Budgens so that I could walk up to him and offer to light his cigarette."

So far so good, as this would make for a completely innocuous and adorable meet-cute story for their grandbabies some day. Alas, "It was already lit, so, that was just embarrassing," Turner confessed. And she had no backup plan, either, except maybe for the tweet itself.

"I thought he might see this tweet and then, I don’t know, reach out to me, and ask me on a date or something, but he didn’t," she said.

In other words, celebrities … they have no game … just like you.

Ten months later, though, things took a much brighter turn for the "Game of Thrones" star when she met Joe Jonas. The couple recently wed in an impromptu Las Vegas ceremony. They’re planning a full wedding for the near future.

Elswhere in the video, Turner laughed at some of her more embarrassing early tweets like when she was excited to gain followers and when she got her first L.A. paparazzi welcome. She even explored some more recent missives like the depth of her love for Spongebob and her possibly-narcissistic reason for loving Zara Larsson so much.

And while she didn’t dish much on "Game of Thrones," she did gush over her on-screen sister an best friend Maisie Williams and made us all feel better that we can’t remember how to pronounce or spell all those Westerosi names by admitting she still can’t spell Cersei and totally butchering Daenerys Targaryen’s name.

And she was there!

She also pitched "Dark Phoenix," which is off to a disappointing start in theaters this weekend, promising its unlike any X-Men movie you’ve seen before.
