Britney Spears’ Father Jamie Admits Their ‘Relationship Has Always Been Strained’

Britney Spears‘ father speaks on their relationship.

As we reported, on Thursday, the …Baby One More Time singer was granted a permanent restraining order against her former manager, Sam Lutfi, who was in charge of the musician’s career during the early aughts.

Per ET, during the hearing, Jamie Spears was asked by Lutfi’s attorney, Marc Gans, about his dynamic with his daughter prior to being her conservator.

He reportedly responded:

“Me and my daughter’s relationship has always been strained.”

Additionally, per multiple outlets, the 66-year-old said in court that Lutfi made efforts to destabilize his daughter’s conservatorship through harassment.

Though Lutfi denied these claims, the judge still decided against him, and he must stay at least 200 yards away from Britney, her parents, and her two children for five years.

Previously, Sam was slapped with a temporary restraining order for allegedly sending harassing and threatening texts and tweets to the pop star and her family, causing them “severe mental trauma.”

Lutfi allegedly sent mom Lynne Spears an “unhinged” text on April 29, accusing her of not being involved in Britney’s conservatorship. The message allegedly read:

“You are the one that’s been breaking your back for your children your entire life and yet you are still having to answer to people that have done nothing for your family yet they are in charge… You need to stop allowing anyone to treat you poorly. Lou lives like a queen and does what she wants. You how how poorly she speaks about you behind your back… I want to just be able to provide you all the resources that you’ll need for this transition if that is the plan. Everything from counsel to $.”

Spears and her people also suggested he is behind the #FreeBritney movement, by allegedly writing “disparaging and threatening comments” on social media, and asking the public to “raise hell” to free Britney.

Additionally, Sam allegedly threatened to release “trunks” of photos and other damaging materials he collected when he worked with the starlet.

Earlier this month, Jamie asked a judge to allow his daughter’s conservatorship to be enforced and confirmed in her home state of Louisiana.

The father reportedly also planned to have Britney’s conservatorship enforced in Florida and Hawaii, as well.

As a conservator, Jamie has “the power to restrict and limit visitors by any means,” along with the ability to retain a “caretaker for the conservatee” on a 24/7 basis.
