Carrie Ann Inaba says her doctor ‘forgot’ to tell her she had Lupus

Carrie Ann Inaba needs a better doctor.

The “Dancing with the Stars” judge, 51, revealed that her doctor never informed her she had Lupus.

“It’s so weird,” she said on Thursday’s episode of “Live! with Kelly and Ryan.” “I was diagnosed with autoimmune [issues] six years ago but my doctor didn’t tell me I had Lupus.”

It wasn’t until she was having a procedure that she discovered her diagnosis.

“I was having a colonoscopy, which everyone should get, and I saw on my chart ‘Lupus’ and I was like, ‘Oh this is not my chart,’ and they’re like, ‘You have Lupus,’” she said.

The dancer said that her doctor told her about her other condition, Sjogren’s syndrome, but that he “had forgotten” to tell her about her lupus.  She also explained that she would have known if he had mentioned it to her because she is “a really good patient” who “takes notes” and her mother was also with her at the time.

Luckily “The Talk” co-host has been able to make some lifestyle adjustments that help control her lupus side effects.

“Once I found out I was able to make really big changes in my life,” she said. “I quit diet coke. I stopped going in the sun because when you have lupus you’re allergic to UV light, which I didn’t know so I was causing all my own flareups.”

Inaba also struggles with other health issues, such as chronic fatigue syndrome, which she says has killed her sex life.
