Coronation Street legend Chris Quinten, who played Brian Tilsley on the show from 1978-1989, recently got engaged.
The star, who traded acting for managing strip clubs, met striking Robyn Delabarre, 21, at The Secret Lounge in Hammersmith, where Robyn came to work as a dancer.
Chris and Robyn revealed exclusively to Daily Star Online they knew there was a connection between them both immediately despite Chris being 40 years Robyn’s senior.
Recalling how they first met, Chris divulged: “A few people in the club were like, ‘Have you met Lexi yet?’ Which is Robyn’s dancing name. And I said no, no, no and they kept saying it, so they kind of like built me up to meeting this Lexi so when she finally came in, I was like ‘Oh there she is’ and you know, as people can see by her photos, she is beautiful.”
Chris continued: “So I thought, Oh yeah, she’s gorgeous but I didn’t go over straight away and say ‘Hello’, I kind of left it for a little bit and then Robyn came over to me.
“And over the years, I’ve spoken to a lot of girls and been out on dates and stuff but this was the first time I got a feeling that I’ve never had before.
“It was the way she looked me in the eye and I looked her in the eye and the way she spoke to me – it was a conversation I didn’t want to end.”
“And within that first conversation, she actually said to me, ‘What’s your type of girl?’ and I just said ‘You’.”
Chris revealed from then on he wanted speak to Robyn “all the time” because the chemistry was there “straight away”.
He added: “I knew straight away that she liked me, I could just tell and I’ve never had that before.”
“And you meet girls at work and there’s kind of just this barrier there of dancer and manager but with Robyn I didn’t feel that at all.”
He also said Robyn made him laugh and the fact she used to work as a nanny “showed she had a big heart”.
“She wasn’t the typical dancer who was just there to make money and you know, I knew there was something special about her,” he added.
Chris also revealed that Robyn and eldest daughter Jordan, 30, share a spooky connection.
He revealed: “I also told her the dancer name she uses, which is Lexi – is the nickname of my first daughter who lives in America.
“So I told her – my god, that’s my daughter’s name.
“She said when I told her that her heart sunk as she thought [it meant] I was married.”
Robyn meanwhile said she also felt an “instant connection” with Chris.
She divulged: “When I first spoke to him, it was weird and I just felt something and I thought he was so lovely and professional.
“And I never knew who he was before that. Everyone in the club knew he was off Coronation Street, but I didn’t have any idea.
“And I just felt like something was there and we it felt like we had that instant connection.”
