Prince Philip is due to be buried at the weekend as the Royal Family bid farewell to the Duke of Edinburgh in a quiet ceremony being held at St George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle. Piers Morgan has since taken to social media and vented his frustrations that the Queen will sit alone during the ceremony on Saturday due to coronavirus precautions.

The Royal Family including Prince Harry will gather to pay their respects and support Her Majesty.

Piers has since taken to Twitter after Buckingham Palace confirmed the Queen will sit alone during the ceremony, due to coronavirus.

It comes as details of Philip’s funeral have been released ahead of the service on Saturday.

Taking to the micro-blogging site, Piers admitted that it was “heartbreakingly sad” that the Queen has to say goodbye in the current global circumstances.

In view of his 7.9 million followers, the broadcaster and columnist shared a candid snap of the Queen.

Piers penned: “The Queen, who has devoted her life to selfless public service, will be forced to sit all alone during the funeral of her husband of 73 years, due to covid restrictions.

“How heartbreakingly sad.”

His comments sparked division in the comment section, as people commented on the post.

One wrote: “Terrible for any grieving person to be sat on their own… if Charles has been her support bubble why can’t he sit with her?”

Another said: “To commentators, yes, we know hundreds of people have also had to do the same and that was heartbreaking. Doesn’t make this any less so?”

“It’s sad and everyone in that situation deserves compassion,” a third penned.

Others argued that people have also had to follow the same rules since the coronavirus pandemic.

DON’T MISS…

A social media user penned: “How many people haven’t been able to be with their loved ones when they died, or even attend their funerals? It is sad but it is the reality.”

“Like many others have had to do during Covid restrictions!”

The scaled-down ceremony will have just 30 guests due to coronavirus restrictions.

It has also been confirmed that the Queen and all invited guests will wear facemasks.
