‘John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band’ To Be Reissued As Deluxe Box Set

Yoko Ono Lennon and Capitol/UMe will release a deluxe box set of John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band on April 16, marking the 50th anniversary of John Lennon‘s solo debut.

Completely remixed from the original multitracks at Abbey Road Studios, John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band — The Ultimate Collection consists of 159 tracks spread across six CDs and two Blu-ray audio discs.

The deluxe set features performances by the late Beatle, Yoko Ono, Ringo Starr, Klaus Voormann, George Harrison, Eric Clapton, Billy Preston, Alan White and Phil Spector.

The set was produced and supervised by Yoko Ono Lennon with the help of triple Grammy Award winner Paul Hicks, Rob Stevens and Sam Gannon.

John Lennon/Plastic Ono Band, described by the late legend as “the best thing I’ve ever done,” was recorded in 1970, shortly after the breakup of the Beatles.

The Ultimate Collection puts listeners in the center of the studio and explores the album’s 1970 recording sessions at EMI Studios, Abbey Road, along with Lennon’s post-Beatles singles, “Give Peace A Chance,” “Cold Turkey” and “Instant Karma! (We All Shine On)”.

In addition to the various new mixes, the set also features 87 never-before-heard recordings.
