Manmadhudu 2 meta review: Nagarjuna – Rakul Preet Singh’s rom-com gets mixed reviews from critics | Bollywood Life

Manmadhudu 2 has released in South India today and critics have pronounced their verdict on the rom-com. The film is adapted from a 2006 French film, Prete-moi Ta Mainwhere a younger woman falls for an older man. The film stars Nagarjuna, Rakul Preet Singh and Vennela Kishore in lead roles. Oh Baby! actress Lakshmi is also in the film. People have praised the actors, especially Vennela Kishore for his acting. However, the writing has come under flak. The poor characterizations have not impressed the critics. Here is a round-up of what critics have said about Manmadhudu 2…

Janani K of India Today wrote, “Nagarjuna delivers an earnest performance as Sam, but at the end of the film, you will be left yearning to see more of his character. This is by far, Rakul Preet’s career-best performance. Another show stealer is Vennela Kishore’s comic timing. Be it the weed scene or where he breaks into a lengthy monologue in English, he keeps you entertained whenever he is on the screen.”

Manmadhudu 2 Twitter review: Not Nagarjuna Akkineni and Rakul Preet, it’s Vennela Kishore who impresses the audience

Another critic said Manmadhudu 2 was a good one-time watch. “Overall, it is a movie that will not bore you. There’s the emotional quotient, there are some decent conversations. But, it could have been a little more. There was room for the story and characters to breathe. There was an opportunity for the movie to be a little more honest about what it wanted to say, but left unsaid, ” wrote Krishna Sripada of The News Minute.

Sangeetha Devi Dundoo of The Hindu wrote, “Manmadhudu 2 had the potential to be a lot more interesting. At the time of filing this review, news trickled in that Rahul Ravindran won the National Award for Best Original Screenplay for his directorial debut, Chi la Sow. That was a heartwarming film, and an emphatic statement of Rahul’s potential as a writer and director. Manmadhudu 2 doesn’t live up to that promise and here’s hoping that with the next one, Rahul will be back in form.”

Mirchi 9 did not have great things to say about the film. It wrote in its review, “Overall, Manmadhudu 2 is a misfire. It is a failure from the writing perspective more than anything. It is a tedious and bland outing with boring characters that test the patience of the audience.”

IANS wrote in its review, “Nagarjuna pulls off the child-man act with remarkable restraint. He is the mollycoddled mama’s boy around his mother and sister and the lustful Lothario in a series of encounters with sexy women. In fact, this is the sexiest film of Nag’s career. The libidinous encounters include a hilarious sequence where Nag’s best friend runs to a drugstore for condoms when his master is in the mood with a one-night stand. Nag pulls off the sexy-at-60 stint with aplomb.”
