Russell Kane’s wife apologises after mistaking King Charles for ‘random guy’

Russell Kane explains how to invite people to Jubilee parties

Russell Kane, 47, tied the knot with make-up artist, Lindsey Cole, in 2014 and the couple share a little girl named Mina.

The comedian and his other half are no strangers to attending royal events with Russell being a patron for the Prince’s Trust.

On one occasion, the Steph’s Packed Lunch host revealed his wife issued an apology to Charles after not realising he was indeed a royal.

Speaking exclusively to Express.co.uk, Russell said: “I’m a patron of the Prince’s Trust so I met Charles a few times. One of the times we were there Lindsey accidentally grabbed him on the love handles and moved him out of the way.

“One instruction we got was don’t touch Prince Charles. We thought that’s an easy instruction – who runs up to the future monarch and grabs him.”

He continued: “Lindsey got confused and thought it was a random guy. It was him [King Charles] actually talking to someone super important like Moira Stuart or Damian Lewis, someone like that.

“Lindsay just went. ‘Sorry babe,’ grabbed him by the love handles and moved him out the way.”

Russell chuckled: “Can you believe it?”

The couple later received a letter in the post from the Palace to confirm that all had been forgiven.

He recalled: “We got a letter the next day saying, ‘Don’t be too upset. It’s all ok. We must invite you to future events.'”

Russell also shared an insight into his marriage with his partner and admitted the pair still have plenty of chemistry.

He commented: “Being horny all of the time can be quite annoying for a woman. I think [Lindsey] probably finds that quite irritating. I can’t help it.

“I don’t know what’s going on. I think she thought at my age she would be safe marrying an older man but obviously I’ve not been made normal. I work day and night.

“I’ve got so much energy. I’m always creating things and dancing. What can you do?”

Meanwhile, the comedian is hoping to hit the music charts with his track Laundry Fight – an R&B song inspired by domestic life and partners leaving their underwear on the floor.

Russell, who is a regular co-host on Channel 4’s Steph Packed Lunch, released his first single on April 28.

“Let’s just say it’s an inspirational song for all partners male or female, who don’t like seeing a towel on the floor,” he shared.

All streaming and sales revenue will go to suicide prevention charity, CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably).
